This Coolabah burr gives rise to some beautiful grain patterns and grabs interest. Both a focal point and object that prompts discussion. It is a burr from a Eucalyptus tree from coastal Australia, so a relatively rare material in the UK. The burr was sliced from the tree and its original pattern provides the outer shape and surface texture. As the outer structure is removed during turning the inner twisting grain structure add interest to the upper surface of the piece.
